Citrus honey comes from the flowers of different Citrus plants such as orange, bergamot, cedar, lemon, mandarin. It's a single-flower honey that is produced mainly in Sardinia, Sicily and in some areas of Calabria and Basilicata.
Its sweet taste makes it very palatable and for this reason it is often used for the preparation of savory dishes, such as roasts, and desserts, especially fried. It is highly recommended to consume it in combination with cheese such as mozzarella, scamorza and caciocavallo. It is also often used as a sweetener for teas and herbal teas. As we know, however, it is better not to overheat the honey, because if not all its many beneficial properties would be lost.
